Car Walk-Sands:9.00am
We head off from the car park in the centre of Pooley Bridge(east side of the river).
We cross Pooley Brdge and turn north and make our way alongside the River Eamont, a short stretch of road walking then we turn east and cross the river again to Pooley Mill. Itβs then on to Barton where we will have a coffee stop at the church. From the church we go south east to Celleron, past Winder Hall to Roehead then north back into Pooley Bridge. A gentle walk, 6 miles, 700ft total ascent, enough to give us a nice appetite for lunch

Xmas Lunch Walk

6 Miles Grade 4
Walk followed by Xmas lunch - Vallum House
Sands: 9.15am
This is a short 6 mile walk which will, hopefully, give us an appetite for the Christmas π lunch at Vallum House.
We will park in the lay-by at the western end of Burgh by Sands and follow field footpaths, lanes and woodland through the villages of Moorhouse and Thurstonfield before returning to Burgh by Sands and on to lunch.
It is likely to be muddy in parts.
To ensure there is sufficient transport to the start of the walk for everyone it would be appreciated if car drivers could meet at The Sands.

Yesterday I attempted to walk out my planned route for Wednesday's walk.
Not surprisingly some of the paths are waterlogged and impassable.
My Plan B is to walk the footpaths and lanes on the eastern fringe of Carlisle (muddy but passable) taking in Linstock, Brunstock, Houghton and Tarraby.
If you intend doing the walk we will meet at The Sands at 9:15 a.m. as usual. If you decide not to walk lunch will be served at 1:00p.m. At Vallum House.
