We meet at the usual Kilngreen car park at 9.45am. This circular walk takes us to the banks of the Tarras Water which is one of the tributaries of the River Esk. We head south out of the town and follow the track via the Round House and Broomholmshiels to a minor road passing the Laverock Bird Hide and eventually reaching the Rashiel Bridge and the Tarras Water. We turn right following the path near the river. The ground here is very wet so waterproof boots are an asset! We pass the “Bungee” bridge and enjoy this remote and beautiful place. The ancient track turns right and we follow the river right to the Tarras bridge. We negotiate the hair pin bends of the recently repaired road after the landslide of December 2015 and soon pick up the track of the old railway line and return to Langholm via the Skippers Bridge, Murtholm and the Buccleuch Park. Refreshments will be taken at the Church Cafe for £2 where there is also a very reasonable sales table.

Woodland lake walk ..6miles easy . From the coach park , walk thru town , to castle head wood , then uphill to great wood .. walking poles are recommended for this wood , as it is very rough underfoot . We then reach the lake , have lunch, and walk back to Keswick , for tea and scones . On the way , we will stop for a minutes silence in remembrance ..no rush
