Charity Events

Good afternoon,

We have an exciting walk happening up and around Scarfell Pike in June 2014 and wondered it would be possible to advertise the attached poster to your lovely walking group? We are a small but mighty charity raising money to support young scientist on their quest to find a cure for leukaemia, and help like this is invaluable to our marketing.

Merry Christmas.

To whom it may concern,

My name is Henrietta Knight and I work at Childreach International. Childreach International is an award winning international charity that works to unlock children’s potential worldwide by helping children learn in a good school, stay healthy and, most importantly keep safe.  To date, we’ve reached out to 600,000 marginalised children throughout the developing world.

As a charity our main fundraising stream is Challenge Events.  Last year alone, we sent out over 1,300 participants to do amazing things in support of our work; from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to trekking Machu Picchu to hiking along the Great Wall of China.  With this many people participating annually, we are the market leaders in charity challenge events and fundraising support.

I thought that members of Carlisle and District Ramblers and Fellwalkers would be interested in doing one of these challenge events for a great cause.  Trek Machu Picchu runs for 16 days including 6 days of independent travel and will take you from the bustling colonial town of Cuzco, through quiet Salkantay mountain tracks in the shadows of the High Andes, to visit a modern wonder of the world and a UNESCO heritage site, Machu Picchu. During the 6-day trek, you will discover varying eco-systems and climates before your final step into history - arriving at the ancient ruined city of Machu Picchu at sunrise. Participants will also have the option to extend their stay in Peru and South America to travel independently and discover local culture and custom. Each challenge offers something slightly different, so there’s great variety for people.

Below is a brief outline of costs and what is included, but there is more information on our website:

  • Registration Fee: £195
  • Fundraising target: £2950 (flights included) or £1950 (you organise your own flights)
  • Food, accommodation, in-country travel, guides

It would be great to speak with you about this in more detail and see if it might be something members of Carlisle and District Ramblers and Fellwalkers would be interested in doing.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I write to give you details of 4 walks in the Kentmere Valley that the Rotary Club of Kendal South Westmorland are organising to raise funds for Kendal Mountain Rescue.

Full details of the walks, on the 5th April, can be found on:-

I hope you will agree that Kendal Mountain Rescue are a most worthwhile organisation and I would be grateful if you could make your members aware of the event.
