Coach Walk Rosehill 8.50am Sands 9.00am
I will meet you in Pooley Bridge, just before 10 am. (you can park on road side in front on Sun Inn, above The Craft Shop or in front of Post Office, it does state 2 hrs, but no by laws here or asking for a parking disk to be displayed, so cannot be fined, if you wish to pay in the car park that is fine.)
We walk along the Lake Side for a short while, then through Waterside Camp Site, along the road for quarter of a mile, and cross over to Cross Dormont, then it is greenery and Lake Views all the way coming out by Outward Bound. When we get to Howtown we go behind the Hotel ( toilet stop) and up a little way to Barton Fell leading onto Askham Fell getting the same views in reverse! It is a lovely walk, especially if the sun is shining. This is a gentle stroll, reaching no more than 1000 feet on the way back.Coffee, tea shops, and pubs in Pooley Bridge, Sharrow Bay in the garden or wherever you fancy.
SUNDAY 1st June 2014
Coach Walk, Rosehill 8.50am Sands 9.00am
We will start from Buttermere village, head along the shores of Buttermere and up (quite steep) into Burtness Combe. From there a lovely scramble – not difficult but requiring hands and a good balance – into High Crag Buttress and onto High Crag itself. We can then choose either to return via Red Pike and Scale Force or Scarth Gap and down to Buttermere. It is a lovely walk and not well used, so we should have the scramble at least more or less to ourselves.
