I'm contacting you to make you aware of our HLF funded project 'Cumbria's Top 50 Trees' as I think it might be something that may be of interest to your members.
At a time when trees have never been under such threat from climate change, pests and diseases, Cumbria’s Top 50 Trees invites the Cumbrian public to celebrate the county’s biggest and most magnificent living plants. It encourages them to declare why they love a particular tree, what makes it so special, when it touched their heart and where it is - so others can seek it out and share the magic. Tree nominations are made via our website
(www.cumbriastop50trees.org.uk) and all nominations are followed up by a member of our team to measure the tree,
photograph it and gather the story behind the nomination.
We have a small but enthusiastic volunteer team whose role is to visit the nominated trees and are hoping to recruit others to join them. There's an average time commitment of 2.5hrs per week but we are happy to work around our volunteers and fit in with their lifestyle.
