Winter Walking
WINTER WALKING.
We are due a rather cold spell with some hard frosts and maybe some snow. It doesn’t need me to say carry plenty of warm clothing but some sort of spiked footwear is essential should things get tricky. You don’t need to invest in full on crampons but the spikes like those in the picture can turn a nightmare walk into something that is still fun and enjoyable. Available on line or in many good walking shops the price ranges up to £50. Easy to put on and carry in your bag. They can even be very useful on flatter walks but on the hill they are a game changer. Not for me to say what you should spend your money on but I would steer away from Yak Traks. In particular for hill walking.
