NIGHT OUT ON THE HILLS .10th JUNE. 2023.
A couple of years back we did a night walk on High Pike including staying over in Lingy Hut. About half a dozen came out for the experience and I thought it was time we did this again. The proposed date is a Saturday going into the Sunday so we would probably meet up Saturday afternoon. It might be possible to include a walk on the Sunday.
As yet I have not decided where we would stay or go but I have a mind to look at Gregs Hut on Cross Fell. This is the highest Bothy in England and I think has not been long since refurbished. There is a maximum of six allowed per group but should more be interested we could sort out outside sleeping, perhaps tents. Before making any firm plans I intend to go and have a look at the Bothy in the next few weeks. At the moment I was just wanting to see what interest there would be in doing this, so if your interested please let me know so I can make plans. If Gregs Hut is a none starter we can look at a possible alternative. I understand registering an interest now does not mean you would be able to go come June as plans change. If the weather was very bad on the day I would probably postpone the event. Whatever we do I have no plans to be the draft excluder on this occasion!
HONISTER VIA FERRATA XTREME.
Something a bit different. This event costs £60 with a possible discount for a large group. There is a maximum of 12 in a group and payment is up front and none refundable. The start times are 9am ,12 noon and one in the afternoon a bit later in the year. It takes about 3 and a half hours. We have to go back to the start point at the Cafe so cant go on for a walk from the top of Fleetwith Pike where it terminates. To see if you fancy it check out the website at Honister Mines. I did it a few years back but think it has evolved since then. You cant fall off unless you forget to clip your self on, safety is very good but there are some hairy bits. I was thinking, if there is any interest doing it maybe May time. This needs pre booking so if your interested please let me know asap. And as I said its a money up front job.
