Protected Areas and her main area of research expertise relates to literary representations of place.
In her most recent walking guidebook, the ancient city of Carlisle’s rich literary heritage is celebrated.
The Carlisle Literary Walking Tour details the city’s long history of literary associations through a half-day walk, accompanied by words from the many celebrated poets and novelists who visited the town, including the Wordsworths, Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, Mary Shelley, Charles Dickens, Hugh Walpole, and Melvyn Bragg.
The launch event will take place at the Vallum Gallery at the University of Cumbria’s Brampton Road campus (CA3 9AW) on Friday 27th October, 6.30-8.30pm. The evening will include a brief introduction to Carlisle’s literary history from the author and some readings from the book, followed by a book-signing. Ticket price includes a glass of wine and nibbles.
Please note that parking on campus is free after 6pm.
