A G M 2015

A G M 13th February 2015

By the time the AGM comes round the committee will be somewhat depleted. Chris Fortune and Geoff Entwistle are resigning from their positions as treasurer and secretary respectively and Judith Mingins is resigning as a committee member. Already this year Alison Smith and Judy Cherrie have resigned as committee members. Roger Tringham has volunteered to become treasurer but we are still left with several positions to fill

Members should think seriously about the situation, the club does not function on its own, it requires volunteers to carry out necessary tasks. I’m quite sure there are several members with time on their hands who could devote an hour or two to help the club.

None of the positions require a great deal of commitment, just an hour or two occasionally. The position of Social Secretary for example could be shared by two or three people. One person to book the speakers, one to organise the Friday night rota, one to sort out admin and money. One Friday night a month would be a good start, six a year, not a lot to ask. The Secretary job could also be shared, one to do membership, one to do the Newsletter. For all the jobs there would be plenty of help and advice from the outgoing committee members. We have already lost our Friday night social evenings due to a lack of volunteers, let’s bring them back. If we don’t stop the rot, what’s next to go?

Update

Lauren Sarasini & Peter Flynn have volunteered to share the position of Club Secretary and Lynda Lowthion has volunteered to take on one of the Social Secretary roles.

A big thank you to them for volunteering.

We’re getting there but we still need a few more volunteers.
