    70th  Birthday Walks & Dinner       

The Carlisle & District Rambling Club is Seventy years old this year
The first walk took place on Sunday the 28th April 1946, Dalston to Sebergham
and the first coach walk took place on the 23rd of June 1946,
with the A party going up Helvellyn and the B party doing a walk around Ulswater.
To celebrate the birth of the club the coach walks on Sunday 29th May 2016
will be a repeat of the first coach walk. On our return to Carlisle there will be a birthday dinner in
The Bluerare on London Road  6.00pm - 6.30pm
All members are welcome to attend the dinner, if you can’t manage the walk you can still attend the dinner.

On Sunday we will have the usual pick up points at Rosehill and the Sands but we will have an additional pick up point at the

Bluerare on Carleton /London Road at 9.10am. It is not possible to park in the Bluerare Car Park all day but there is parking nearby.

We are aiming to arrive back in Carlisle between 5.30pm and 6.00pm.

This should allow sufficient time for everyone to arrive at the Bluerare by 6.30pm.

Starters
A  -  Soup:  Homemade soup of the day served with fresh roll and butter
 
B  -  Pâté:  Homemade Chicken liver pâté accompanied with crisp salad, Cumberland sauce,
wholemeal toast and butter
 
C  -  Garlic Mushrooms:  Button mushrooms cooked in a creamy garlic sauce, served onto toasted fresh bread and mixed leaves
 
Main Courses
A  -  Sunday Roast:  A selection of roast beef or gammon, or a mixture of both, served with homemade Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roast and creamed potatoes, carrot and swede mash, Broccoli and rich gravy
 
B  -  Beef Stew & Dumplings:  Slowly cooked tender pieces of braising steak with carrot, swede & onions, cooked in their own natural gravy with homemade suet dumplings, accompanied with creamy mash
 
C  -  Goats Cheese Tart:  Puff pastry base topped with a sweet red onion jam, slice of beef tomato, fresh basil and goats cheese, oven baked and served onto a bed of mixed  leaves with balsamic drizzle
 
Desserts
A  -  Sticky Toffee Pudding:  Our own traditional homemade recipe served warm with butterscotch sauce
 
B  -  Cheesecake of the day:  Please ask for the flavour of the day
 
C  -  Selection of Ice Creams (3 Scoops):  Choose from vanilla, milk chocolate, mint chip or strawberry
