We pass the car park on our right then turn right after about 300 meters onto a farm track. We follow this track/path until we reach The Pennine Way. We then turn right onto the Pennine Way until we get to Hadrian’s Wall. From here it’s an up and down walk along the wall returning to The Twice Brewed Inn where we can spend our parking tickets on refreshments

We park off the access road to Thornythwaite Farm which leads off Borrowdale Rd opposite Mountain Vw Cottages at Strands Bridge. The path we pick up ascends Thornythwaite Fell as a pleasant steady climb, nothing too steep and we should be on the top within an hour and a half or so. We continue South as though heading for Glaramara but soon branch off left to ascend Combe Head, our highest point at 733mtrs where we can have lunch. From there we pick our own route down into Combe Door and negotiate pathless rocky outcrops heading East over to Stonethwaite Fell before turning North for Rosthwaite Cam where it is worth a coffee stop before reaching Tarn at Leaves and the final pathless descent to cross Combe Gill (pick your own stepping rocks!) and join up with the path we started out on. The observant amongst us may recognise that much of this walk covers ground walked with Andy when he led Glaramara in September (only in reverse) - by the time i realised this i decided it was too late to make changes - it's still a great walk.
